Bethlehem, January 20, 2026 – – State Senator Lisa Boscola announced today that $5,326,005 in state funding has been approved for nineteen projects in the 18th District through the Multimodal Transportation Fund Program (MTF) and the Small Water & Sewer Program (SWS).
“Safe roadways, clean water and functioning wastewater systems are essential for the quality of life of our region and this $5.3 million in state investment in these multimodal, water and sewer projects will ensure these critically needed improvements and enhancements to move forward.” Boscola stated. “Working together in a bipartisan fashion with my legislative colleagues in both chambers made bringing this funding back to Northampton County a reality.”
The following Multimodal Transportation Fund Lehigh Valley projects were awarded funding:
- City of Bethlehem, Guetter Street Public Transportation Upgrade: $312,712
- City of Easton, Larry Holmes Drive Safety Improvements (Phase 1 & 2): $250,000
- Forks Township, Pavement Rehabilitation and Safety Improvement Project: $442,716
- Lower Nazareth Township, Township Line Road Rehabilitation: $1,250,000
- Palmer Township, Northwood Farms to Fox Run Park Trail Gap: $225,000
- Skyline Investment Group Easton, LLC, Dixie Cup Site Regional Pedestrian and Bicycle Trail Connector: $625,000
- Wilson Borough, Wilson Borough Roadway and Pedestrian Access Improvements Project: $400,000
The following Small Water & Sewer projects were awarded funding:
- Bangor Borough Authority, Bangor 2026 Sewer Rehabilitation: $150,000
- Bethlehem Township Municipal Authority, 2026 Stormwater Infrastructure Rehabilitation: $200,000
- City of Easton, Washington and Grant St CIPP Lining: $100,000
- East Bangor Borough Municipal Authority, WWTP Upgrades Project: $200,000
- Glendon Borough, Pump Station Upgrades: $115,907
- Hellertown Borough Authority, Inflow and Filtration: $173,119
- Hellertown Borough Authority, Water Main Lining: $125,000
- Hellertown Borough, Reinhard and Dimmick Park Stormwater Channel Improvements: $50,000
- Palmer Township Stormwater Authority, 25th Street Culvert Replacement Project: $381,551
- Portland Borough Authority, Portland Borough Authority PA Small Water and Sewer Grant Application: $40,000
- Wilson Borough, Wilson Borough Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project: $35,000
- Wind Gap Municipal Authority, North Broadway Sewer Rehabilitation: $250,000
Funding for the projects were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The Multimodal Transportation Fund was created as part of Act 89 to promote economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available throughout the Commonwealth. The PA Small Water and Sewer program provides grants to municipalities and municipal authorities to assist with the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply or sanitary sewer systems.
