Bethlehem (August 16, 2018)– State Senator Lisa M. Boscola announced today that the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has awarded Northampton Community College (NCC) and Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) with over $1 million in grant funding for construction injection packers on their respective campuses.

“Northampton and LCCC have been leaders in meeting the educational needs for a 21st century economy,” Boscola (D-Northampton) stated.  “Their understanding that improving their campuses can play an important role in meeting those needs have kept them in the forefront of producing students to fill jobs available here in the Lehigh Valley and across the Commonwealth,” Boscola added.

NCC was approved for a grant of $570,000 for its Renovations to Student Success Initiative Space project. With a total project cost is $1.14 million.  LCCC has been awarded $500,000 to replace an air conditioner chiller with a total project cost of $1 million. and the Department of Education, as it will do with the other eight projects approved, will provide 50 percent of the annual capital expense of each project.

The grant award, according to PDE, is the estimated amount from the community college’s respective.  Due to the applications being submitted in April 2017 the final reimbursement numbers may change and due to the nature of the projects, the institutions may be eligible for future funding.
