Bethlehem (January 21) – State Senator Lisa M. Boscola announced today that volunteer fire companies and volunteer ambulance services in Lehigh and Northampton Counties were awarded $406,836.90 through the 2019-2020 Fire Company, Emergency Medical Services Company Grant Program, which is administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

“The Fire Company, Emergency Medical Services Company Grant Program helps provide financial assistance to the most vital organizations in our community,” Boscola said.  “Our local fire departments, EMS and volunteer ambulance departments are well-deserving of this funding, which will help to protect our citizens and our communities.”

Grants will be not less than $2,500 and not more than $15,000 per applicant fire company and no more than $10,000 per applicant emergency medical service.

It is important to note that the departments now have until May 31, 2020 to get their grant agreements to the Office of the State Fire Commissioner so that the grants can be processed and the OSFC can get the funds to them.
