Bethlehem (March 8, 2024) State Senator Lisa Boscola today announced a total of $1,220,374 in funding for two grants to promote affordable housing in Northampton County through the HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME).
“This important investment of HOME funding to Northampton County will allow Community Action Lehigh Valley to continue its efforts to provide affordable housing opportunities for residents of Northampton County,” Senator Boscola stated. “Accessible and affordable housing has become a great concern for more and more families and the HOME funding will help address this critical issue.”
The two grants announced today:
- $1,138,814 to Northampton County Commissioners for homebuyer construction in partnership with Community Action Lehigh Valley;
- $81,560 to Northampton County for a Community Housing Development Organization operating grant on behalf of Community Action Lehigh Valley.
HOME Program funds can be used in a variety of ways to address critical housing needs, including market-oriented approaches that offer opportunities such as homeownership or rental activities to revitalize communities with new investment. The PA Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) receives HOME program funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the annual entitlement appropriation process.
Statewide, $12,190,423 in funding through the HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) was distributed by DCED to support affordable housing for Pennsylvanians in 20 counties.
