Bethlehem, April 21, 2021 – – State Senator Lisa Boscola and State Representative Jeanne McNeill today announced state funding totaling $461,207 for projects in Lehigh Northampton County through the Act 13 Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.           

“I’m pleased to announce the approval of these funds to help expedite important projects that will improve the quality of life and increase recreational opportunities throughout the Lehigh Valley,” Boscola said. “It was pleasure to work alongside my colleagues in the State House of Representatives, including Representatives Jeanne McNeill, to secure this needed funding to assist our local governments.”

“The Act 13 funding through the Marcellus Legacy Fund has had a tremendous impact on enhancing recreational opportunities throughout the Lehigh Valley and I am very pleased to see the CFA approve these much needed grants to benefit parks in Whitehall Township,” Rep. Jeanne McNeill stated.

The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) approved the following projects located in the 18th Senatorial District:

  • Hockendauqua Park and Playground Association: $76,500 for New Pedestrian Bridge;
  • North Catasauqua Borough: $166,000 for D&L Trail: Northampton and North Catasauqua Improvements;
  • Whitehall Township: $76,707 for Whitehall Parkway Pavilion;
  • Hellertown Borough: $142,000 for Authority Park Improvements.

The grants were approved today by the state Commonwealth Financing Authority Board in Harrisburg. Funding from the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program uses revenue generated through Act 13 of 2012 that imposes an impact fee on the state’s unconventional natural gas wells.
