Bethlehem, PA – December 18, 2019 – State Senator Lisa M. Boscola announced today that the Community Action Development Corporation of Bethlehem (CADC) was approved for state funding through the Neighborhood Assistance Program for its Southside Vision 20/20.

“I’m pleased to announce state funds will be used for the Southside Vision 20/20 plan to further restore and revitalize South Bethlehem,” Boscola said. “Funding will promote new business creation in South Bethlehem along with addressing housing issues for residents and promoting recreational opportunities for neighborhood youth.”

Funding was provided through the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP), which has five program components, that encourages private sector investment in projects that will assist in community and economic development within distressed areas.  The NAP provides tax credits to businesses that donate capital to support projects that address neighborhood and community needs.

Specifically, the funding to CADC for Southside Vision 20/20 will expand the Start Your Business program, provide business technical assistance, increase new business start-ups and employment opportunities, hire a housing organizer, provide for additional residential façades, maintain two parks and green spaces, implement numerous youth related educational and recreational programs.

The program has five main components: The Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP), Special Program Priorities (SPP), the Neighborhood Partnership Program (NPP), the Charitable Food Program (CFP), and the Enterprise Zone Program (EZP). Funding for CADC was approved as part of the Neighborhood Partnerships Program, which seeks to revitalize targeted distressed communities to enhance the quality of life of its residents and produce comprehensive, sustainable results.
