Bethlehem, March 27, 2019 – State Senator Lisa M. Boscola announced today that twenty-eight fire departments and emergency medical services (EMS) providers in the Lehigh and Northampton County portions of her district will be awarded $366,603 through the 2018-2019 Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grants, which is administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC).    

“These grants will help provide financial assistance to the most vital organizations in our community,” Boscola said.  “Our local fire departments and EMS providers are well-deserving of this funding, which will help protect our citizens who are in need of their services.”

Grants awarded will be not less than $2,500 and not more than $15,000 per applicant fire company and no more than $10,000 per applicant emergency medical service.

Grants approved in Senator Boscola’s District are as follows:

LEHIGH COUNTY

  • Catasauqua Fire Department – $14,481.50
  • Coplay Fire Department – $11,677.66
  • Eastern Salisbury Fire Ambulance and Rescue Company – $13,656.84
  • Egypt Fire Company No 1 Whitehall Fire Dept – $13,162.04
  • Emmaus Borough Ambulance Corps – $7,155.22
  • Emmaus Fire Department – $14,811.36
  • HAN LE CO Volunteer Fire Co 1 – $11,512.73

  • Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company – $14,811.36

It is important to note that the departments now have until May 31, 2019 to get their grant agreements to the Office of the State Fire Commissioner so that the grants can be processed and the OSFC can get the funds to them.
