Bethlehem (November 12, 2019) − State Senator Lisa M. Boscola announced today that the Commonwealth Financing Authority approved two Multimodal Transportation Fund grants for important safety projects in the City of Easton and Borough of Fountain Hill totaling 2,331,670.
“I am pleased that state funding dollars will be used toward two projects in the Lehigh Valley to address critical public safety needs along the Bushkill Street corridor in Easton and Broadway in Fountain Hill,” Boscola said. “These safety projects have been a high priority for some time and through the state partnering with local communities we will see an enhanced quality of life for residents and visitors to these communities”, noted Boscola.
The City of Easton was awarded $1,331,670 for the Bushkill Corridor Safety Enhancements Project and Fountain Hill was awarded $1,000,000 for the Broadway Pedestrian Safety Initiative.
“The Multimodal Transportation Fund was created specifically to aid municipalities with projects such as these where there are important transportation corridors with serious safety concerns that impede the traffic needs for vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians,” Boscola stated. “Assisting Easton and Fountain Hill improve the flow of traffic and enhance safety for cyclists and pedestrians helps keep the Lehigh Valley a great place to live,” Boscola added.
Funding for the projects were approved Tuesday by the Commonwealth Financing Authority in Harrisburg. The Multimodal Transportation Fund was created as part of Act 89 to promote economic development and ensure that a safe and reliable system of transportation is available throughout the Commonwealth.
